Before I could start using this new 'toy' - - software was needed. for a first try i just installed the software from camiels pack on my mint box. The very first thing needed was to upload a firmware. by following the folders from camiel one after the other will make the job. read carefull true the readme as the provide all needed informations. At this point I could bit my ass to not installing all the software during the long waiting time. as I really would see if it moves at all. finally, it did. Read More |

After also the extruder has been mounted, all of the mechanical parts are more or less done. Next was the cabeling and putting it all together. |

the hotend is most likely already pre assembled. the things to do are glueing the heat resistor and thermistor. the most challanging thing it that the legs of the thermistor are not touching each others and not the brass block as well.

| x-carriage | 13 Mar 2012, 09:09 |

the next was the x-carriage. just follow the drawings from the manual... the only thing I modified already here was to bend the washers from the belt clamp. as the belt tend to slip out. you will see this on one of the following pics.

The next thing was the X-axis frame. The most important thing here is to pay attention on that the 2 site pieces are absolutly flat before you put them in the frame. When you tention the nuts they thend to twist. you have to sort this out before you mount it in the frame ant to the z-axis. It is nearly impossible to level the heatbed when there is any twist.

| building my orca | 19 Feb 2012, 10:33 |
|
the first thing before start building was to print the pdf manual. this was also not realy a manual who shows step by step how to assemble and where to pay attention. it's more like explosion drawings of the parts. sometime with some notes and so. a good idea is also to pre-sort alle the bolts, washer, nuts. this will save you a lot of time.
